- Teach Bible, Good news, what God has done
- Tell your own personal story of how it is you have faith
- Pray for them
- Convey personal stories, experiences, wisdom
- Notice their progress and tell them what you see or hear
- Encourage them in steps it would be good for them to take
- Enjoy them
- Play with them
- Help them recognize their talents and interests
- Be alongside them in developing new skills
- Correct them gently when they are going the wrong direction
- Share common activities or interest together
- Assist their Mom and Dad when appropriate, support them
- Be authentic
- Grow—new learnings, new understandings, new wisdom
- Give warnings, tell of consequences when appropriate
- Connect them with extended family and family heritage
